Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened, but not melted.
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch Can be substituted with an equal amount of all-purpose flour.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Skip if using salted butter.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional) Dust cookies after they have cooled.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Flatten each ball slightly with a fork.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let cool, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes
